Pizza Dough

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 package of yeast (about 2 1/4 tsp.)
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. dried oregano (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. dried basil (optional)

Directions:

1) In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add yeast, water, and sugar. Whisk together until the mixture is slightly frothy, and let sit for approximately 5 minutes.
2) Mix in the oil, salt and herbs. While stirring, slowly add two cups of flour, until the mixture is homogeneous.
3) Now use your hands and mix in another 1 1/2 - 2 cups of flour, until the dough is slightly sticky. Try not to fold the dough too much.
4) Oil the inside of another medium-sized bowl and place the dough inside. Lightly oil the top of the dough and cover with a cloth. Let rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Makes enough dough for two medium-sized pizzas.
